My work represents the personal experience of being a woman. I have been subject to trauma and disorder that change the perspective of my physical body; a perspective that constantly occupies my mind and makes home in my work. Misogynistic touch and talk are the foundations and firsthand experience is nailed into the walls by a male dominated society. I use imagery within my work that adheres to the interests of this domination: classic aesthetics women are expected to enjoy, anonymity in perversions, scantily clad figures in suggestive poses. All images used are sourced off the internet and digitally collaged together. I’m very interested in the concept of “originality” and believe once an image is exposed to the public, all sense of authority is lost. Composed with deviously humorous content, these works address the socially constructed experience of being a woman.
