2020 Spring Exhibition > Jamie Commando

I believe that art is not just something you observe, but something that you become a part of. Through woodworking, metalworking, circuit building and coding, I create interactive furniture. My work focuses on the relationship between the object and the person interacting with it; I hope to create a symbiotic relationship between the two. One does not function without the other, and the full potential of the work cannot be reached without those who interact with it. I use modelmaking, 3D rendering and prototyping for my design process, and my work changes and develops as I create. My intent is to create experiences that are individual to each user or viewer, to provide a brief moment in time to pause for engagement and play.
