2020 Exhibition > Jonathan Zayas

As humans, we were born pioneers, explorers, strangers on this mysterious planet bound to discover the super unknown. As time progressed over the last 200,000 years of human existence, technology has evolved in ways that gave us the possibility to travel beyond our planet. Recent discoveries prove there is still an infinite amount to come across including the likelihood of other life forms. The amount of stars, planets, colors is truly amazing. The universe is very beautiful but scary at the same time and that is what inspires my work. The fact that a black hole, full of matter and emptiness, can swallow the Earth in one gulp is honestly mystifying. I've purchased a pair of all white Nike Air Force 1s and used acrylic paint to show my vision. Both pairs of shoes have the same background gradient but the shoes are different. The left shoe has an astronaut floating in the lonely void of space as he sees his home planet get further and further away. While the right shoe is decorated with a lunar eclipse and a different astronaut with weird green mist coming out of his hands. Both shoes are from different parts in space, maybe different multiverses?
