2020 Fall Exhibition > Teddy Giardina

Art is a form of communication without boundaries. When I am at a loss for words, I use art to express what I am feeling and thinking. Art allows me to connect with people in ways unimaginable. My art ranges from dark and mysterious, to bright and cheerful. Different mediums inspire different stylistic choices. Where charcoal is used in my work, I create mysterious motifs using soft lines, and heavy shading. Charcoal inspires me to create observational and realistic works of art. When I use printmaking mediums the works produced are graphic. Using bold colors and energetic lines, I create cheerful as well as tense scenes. When printmaking, the processes I use are photo silkscreen, monotype, intaglio, and relief printing. My creative process cannot be confined to one material. As I venture further into my art education, I find myself attracted to a variety of drawing and printmaking mediums. Deciding what medium to use is driven by what new skill I am learning, as well as what medium speaks to me upon creation. Out of all the mediums I have explored so far, silkscreen printing has excited me the most. My hope for the future is to achieve excellence in silkscreen printing. My work portrays my journey as a person on this earth, as well as my journey as an artist. I hope those who view my work are as vulnerable with me as I am in my work.
