2021 Spring Exhibition > Andrew Wood

Andrew Wood

My work is inspired by the people in my life like my dad. My dad used to be a firefighter. He had to give it up when my two siblings and I were born. After being a firefighter he got a job where he builds all different kinds of custom objects for customers like cabinets and shelves. The photos you see are a part of a photo series I did about my dad and him leaving firefighting behind for him to be able to take care of my brother, sister and me. I made the shelf using wood design techniques I learned from class and from my dad(mostly my dad).

I find myself using many different mediums throughout all the art I have made. Recently I have been mostly focusing on using wood design and photography. I am always wanting to design and create new things. Whenever I make wood design sculptures I try to save scraps to use in future projects. More recently I have been trying to incorporate my wood design work into other mediums like photography.
